Who are We Here for?

ABCEL focuses on Urban Indians who are navigating longer lives in rapidly changing cities. Urban life today brings new experiences – extended lifespans, shifting roles, evolving work identities, and changing family structures. These shifts create emerging needs around purpose, connection, well‑being, financial confidence, and everyday quality of life.

Our work centres on understanding these evolving realities and supporting people as they navigate these life‑stage transitions.

Within this larger group, we currently focus on two priority communities, each at a significant transition point: Seasoned Citizens | Armed Forces Veterans

Both groups are entering new chapters where clarity, support, and enriched living can profoundly influence the next phase of their lives.

Seasoned citizens

Focused on Men & Women, age 55-65

People aged 60 can expect to live another 18-20 years. Their share in India's total population, will increase significantly over the next decade.

This change in longevity is recent, and yet to be socially internalised.

The cliché idea of ageing needs to be refreshedto include the contemporary reality of
mature youthfulness, mental agility, measured physical ability and independence.

Armed forces' veterans

Focused on Officers

60,000 Armed forces' veterans in the age bracket of 35 – 46 years, retire every year. Still in their prime, they are eager to explore new avenues for purposeful engagement.

They are mid-career professionals bringing in a plethora of experience to civilian roles.

Socially they feel disconnected from their families, and the new civilian social context. Socio-psychological interventions are required to bridge the gap for our soldiers.
